In 2022, almost 2.2 million solar systems supplied around 10% of the electricity produced in Germany and the share of photovoltaics in electricity generation continues to rise. The cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity in Germany rose to 59 gigawatts, meaning photovoltaics will overtake onshore wind power at the end of the year [56.1 GW].
